Exterior
The cottage features a large south facing decked terrace and garden, accessible from the upper floor, and a parking facility.

The private enclosed garden boasts a large alfresco dining table, sun loungers, a family BBQ, lawn and selection of family beach games.

The property’s quirky layout involves 2 separate entrances on two different levels; one via the street level front porch, and one on the upper level through the back garden gate.

Ground floor
The newly fitted Utility room flows into hallway sitting area complete with a small sofa, TV & DVD.

There is also a kingsize or twin room, featuring a new super king zip and link bed, as well as a modern bathroom with a fitted power shower.

First floor
Up the stairs, passing 2 well-stocked bookcases, the first floor features 3 spacious bedrooms and a family bathroom. Two ample bedrooms boast zip and link beds which can be made into doubles or singles. Meanwhile the third bedroom is furnished with two single beds and the family bathroom features its own bathtub. The versatile sleeping accommodation is ideal for friends and family.

Upper floor
The top floor is a gorgeous haven with direct access to the south-facing terrace and garden.

Natural light and large windows offset this loft style dining and entertaining area. This floor also features a second, full-equipped, family kitchen with views across Shaldon’s rooftops.

The inviting country-style dining room provides a venue for hosting relaxed breakfasts and candle-lit suppers. Leading directly from the kitchen, the room features a large solid table with 8 chalky white spindle chairs perfect for self-catering.

The triple aspect living room boasts a real fire, a corner sofa & a sofa under the window, TV, DVD player, NOW TV, free unlimited Wi-Fi, and a library of traditional games under the window seat.

Guests looking for flexible sleeping arrangements will love this property; the ground floor area off the car port, has been specially designed to suit teenagers, grandparents, extra guests or nannies seeking a their own facilities.

Please note that Driftwood Cottage is pet-free, and so regrettably no dogs are permitted.

Location
Guests are a 5 minute walk away from the quaint charm and modern amenities of fishing villages Ringmore and Shaldon. The popular village butcher, newsagent and bakery are all just a 2 minute walk away.

Shaldon’s range of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés includes the beach front Strand Café, the Coffee Rush Café (just yards away), the Michelin starred regional cuisine of the ‘Ode’ Restaurant, with its nearby sister café , live Jazz at the Clifford Arms and the Crab Shack’s sea views across in Teignmouth. Nearby Paignton, Torquay and Brixham all offer excellent night life. Old Walls Vineyard is also located just across the water.

For daytime amusement, try the Shaldon Wildlife Trust, go-karting, golf, or bowling. Other attractions include Homeyard’s Botanical Gardens and the oldest ferry in the UK crossing from Shaldon to Teignmouth.

High season brings a myriad of regattas, music events, galas and the annual Water Carnival.

Shaldon Beach offers opportunities for swimming, canoeing, sailing and rowing, with beautiful sunset beach walks, and the Ness Cove provides a peaceful alternative, with rock-pools and beach picnics to enjoy. The scenic Steam Railway tour, River Boat cruises and Kent’s Cavern are also nearby.

Booking Notes

All bookings are inclusive of final clean, linen & towels with all beds made up. Please bring your own beach towels as these are not provided.
For fortnightly bookings, all linen & towels are changed plus housekeeping.
All utilities are included in the weekly tariff.

Making a Booking

If you would like to make a confirmed booking, you will be required to fill in our Online booking form and pay a 30% deposit. The remaining holiday balance will then be due 6 weeks before arrival. Payment for your holiday can be made by MasterCard, Visa, Visa Debit, American Express, PayPal or bank wire transfer – this selection is made through the payment pages after clicking the Book Online button. Please note that paying via credit card or PayPal will incur a 2% surcharge.
